The first person to understand who Jesus truly was at the cross…
wasn’t a disciple.
Wasn’t a priest.
Wasn’t a religious expert.
It was a Roman centurion —
a man who helped kill Him.
Why?
Because he stood closest to Jesus’ suffering.
He saw the way Jesus forgave.
He saw the way He loved.
He saw the way creation responded.
He saw a death unlike any death.
Sometimes the clearest vision of Jesus
comes not from comfort…
but from standing near places where He still suffers —
the hurting, the overlooked, the forgotten.
In those places, your eyes open.
Your heart softens.
Your faith deepens.
Because that’s where Jesus still is.
🙏 Lord, give me eyes to see You — especially in the places I least expect. Amen.
