Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men[a] from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose[b] and have come to worship him.” - Matthew 2:1-2
From the very beginning, the wrong people are paying attention.
A political king feels threatened.
Religious leaders know the Scriptures — but don’t move.
And outsiders — the Magi — see the signs and start walking.
This isn’t accidental.
It’s a pattern.
Those with power fear losing it.
Those with certainty stop searching.
But those who stay curious…
those who remain humble…
those who keep watching the sky…
They recognize when God is near.
The Kingdom doesn’t announce itself to people guarding their position.
It reveals itself to people willing to seek.
And that raises a quiet but honest question for us:
Are we still paying attention?
Still listening?
Still searching?
Or have we mistaken familiarity for faith?
God is not impressed by proximity to power.
He responds to openness of heart.
And He still reveals Himself
to those willing to look.
