“And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah” - Matthew 1:6

Matthew could have written,

“David was the father of Solomon.”

But he doesn’t.

He reminds us how Solomon was born —

through adultery, betrayal, and the abuse of power.

And that’s not an exception in Jesus’ family tree.

His lineage includes:

incest,

prostitution,

adultery,

scandal,

foreigners,

and people society tried to forget.

God could have entered the world through a flawless family.

He didn’t.

He chose to enter through a story marked by failure, shame, and brokenness —

to make one thing unmistakably clear:

He is not waiting for perfection to be present.

Christmas is not God arriving after humanity gets its act together.

It is God stepping directly into the mess —

and refusing to turn away.

Which means this:

Your past does not disqualify you.

Your family history does not disqualify you.

Your mistakes do not disqualify you.

If God was willing to enter a story this complicated…

He is willing to enter yours.
